Viktor “Isildur1” Blom has just won the $100,000 PCA Super High Roller, after defeating a field of 30 players over three days to lift the title, and collect the $1,254,400 first place prize.
As the eight man final table got underway yesterday, only five players were guaranteed a share of the $3,136,000 prize pool. Those unfortunate players leaving empty handed included a short-stacked Humberto Brenes in 8th, who three-bet shoved with A-8 into Galen Hall‘s pocket jacks.
He was then followed by Mike “Timex” McDonald in 7th, who four-bet shoved with K-J into the A-J of Viktor Blom, and Scott Seiver, who four-bet shoved with pocket jacks into the pocket kings of Hall.
With the bubble burst, the 21 year-old Viktor Blom then gave his chip count a boost after dispatching Daniel Negreanu in 5th ($250,900), who had been reduced to 30BB before shoving his A-K into Blom’s pocket eights. Blom subsequently had Jonathan Duhamel (Jc-6c) all-in on a Jh-7c-5h flop, while he held Ah-Qh and the flush draw. Blom hit his flush on the turn and so Duhamel exited the action in 4th for a $313,600 payday.
Continuing his steamroll of the final table, Blom with pocket aces dispatched Galen Hall with pocket nines in 3rd ($470,400), thus heralding in the heads-up phase of the competition against Dan Shak.
As heads-up began, Blom held a 3 to 2 chip advantage over his opponent, which he managed to extend to 7 to 1 before the final hand was played. Shak had been dealt Ah-5h and decided to shove on a 9d-7c-6h-Qh board, only to be called by Blom with Kc-Qs.
